Creating Your Power Space

Creating Your Power Space

Your power space is your personal haven. This is your “happy place”, where you recharge by enjoying some quiet time, relaxation, tidiness, and taking pleasure from things you own.

The aim of creating this personal charging station is to send a ripple effect. The joy and calmness it inspires is hoped to eventually trickle to other living spaces and create a positive atmosphere throughout your home.

Here’s how to create your dedicated power space.

Pick A Spot You Can Call All Your Own

It can be an entire room, a tiny nook, or even just an armchair. But it should be a place you can call your very own. This is the spot you put to work to make you feel joyful and peaceful.

Set the boundaries of your space and let everyone know your claim.

Declutter

Although some people like living in creative chaos, most of us gain a clear mind and positive mood when things are neat and in their place. For our power space to empower our happiness and productivity, it must be kept tidy and clutter-free. Use organizers to clear up and maximize spaces. Make cleaning up your space a routine.

Transform and Personalize

Your power space must emanate “you.” It should feel, smell, and vibrate your personality.

Personalize it with things that make you happy. You can include shelves holding mementos and favorite books. Decorate with inspiring artwork, prints, or photos. You may also delight in having a scented candle around when you want some “feel good” smells. Or find space for a pot of fresh herbs or flowers. Include anything that sparks joy in you.

Maintain It

For your power space to work effectively in the long term as your personal charging station, it must be maintained. This means wiping surfaces regularly so that dust does not build up. Objects that are damaged, defective, or simply don’t give you joy anymore should be discarded and replaced by new ones that inspire you. Care, feed, and water any living thing you have in your sanctuary.

Your power space must always uplift. It is your responsibility to continue its allure by preserving your space’s boundaries, its neatness and tidiness, and its distinct character.

Everyone you live with may see the difference a personal space makes and be inspired to create their own oasis. Eventually, the whole home can come together as one whole power space that relaxes and rejuvenates the family.
