6 Things You Need To Write In Your Planner

So much to do, so little time. But precious time can be stretched by knowing how to organize it with the right planner hacks. Remember these tips and you’ll see how much progress you’ll be making toward completing a job, be it complex or “no sweat” simple.

Here are six things you must write in your planner to help you organize your thoughts and your time efficiently:

1.       Calendar & Dates

From birthdays to your weekly volunteer work, write down the dates you need to remember on your monthly planner. Schedule all your deadlines, events and appointments. Use the calendar page to get an overview of your month.

2.       Goals

Before you even start any activity, always keep in mind what you want to accomplish. Knowing the end goal can help you plan the steps you need to take in order to finish what you started. This will save you a lot of time and stress.

Start with a main goal and break this down to smaller, achievable steps.

Writing down your goals in a planner will give you a constant reminder of what you want to achieve. Doing so can help bolster your motivation when things start looking tough.

3.       Tasks

Having specified your goals, you need to list definite tasks needed to achieve them.

It is important to keep track of your daily, weekly or even yearly to-dos to use time efficiently. Some tasks may be time-sensitive and others, not. But having these on your planner ensures you don’t forget a single thing.

4.       Time blocks

Rank tasks or activities in order of priority and specify blocks of time for focusing on these. For instance, if you need to fit in grocery shopping over a seemingly tight schedule, specify what time you intend to shop for. Assigning a time for everything you do keeps your schedule looking very manageable. A streamlined schedule makes sure you get the most out of your day.

5.       Habit Tracking

Achieving goals requires good habits. You may find your work or personal lifestyle needing some essential changes. Habit tracking builds up the habits necessary to achieve your planned goals.

A planner is very useful at keeping you accountable so you don’t sidestep on your self-improvement journey.

6.       Idea box

It’s always great to have a place to write down random thoughts and ideas you may have during the course of the day. A planner serves perfectly as an idea box. When those precious “Aha!” moments get committed to paper, you’re less likely to forget them. Writing these down may give you chances to turn those thoughts into reality by allowing you to fit these ideas into your goals, tasks and schedules. You may find yourself achieving things which you normally wouldn’t be able to.
