Is Your Life Limited By Your Beliefs?
Did you know that we have the power to create our reality? Yes, we do. We live according to what we believe is true.
Our beliefs shape the success or failure in our lives. To live life with some measure of success, we’ve got to live with beliefs that go hand-in-hand with our potential, not limit it.
How Do We Form Our Beliefs?
Our earliest beliefs come from our earliest influencers, such as our parents, teachers, and guardians. When our experiences or environment confirm what we have been told by our influencers, we further ingrain these personal perceptions of truths into our mindset.
This is why people cling to negative or limiting beliefs about themselves. A passed down pessimistic outlook on our capabilities to make positive changes for our future self may narrow a person’s focus on what they cannot do rather than what they can still achieve.
Alter Our Perspectives
We cannot change our past, but we can create our future. Let us forgive ourselves for decisions made under the influence of old, negative values.
To change our limiting beliefs so we can change the course of our lives for the better, we need to update our belief system toward a future-focused, achieving mindset.
Use Imagination
Our imagination is key to changing what we have been conditioned to believe to be true. Spark it by reading, traveling, and learning new things.
Imagine the future in great detail because our dreams concretize what we look forward to living for. This is how we develop a mindset that knows it can achieve the set-out vision.
The Power of Affirmations
The truth we repeatedly tell ourselves is what we picture in our minds. We can change ingrained negative beliefs by challenging them with new, healthier principles.
By bringing attention to the new possibilities, we can redefine harmful beliefs and rewrite the narrative in our minds to rewire our mindsets toward success.
Write down affirmations. Then, take a few mindful minutes in the morning or between work to say and absorb powerful phrases into our psyche.
Some examples of affirmations are:
I am on my way to becoming one of the best pastry chefs in L.A.
As I breathe in and out slowly, stress leaves me, and I feel relaxed.
I am getting better and better every day.
I am grateful for everything I have in my life.
Beliefs determine our choices. Our choices impact our circumstances. So choose what to believe wisely. Leave old patterns behind and take chances on new possibilities. As Henry Ford said, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t –you’re right.”
