Why We Need To Create Routines

Organized behavior or routines comprise a system we set for ourselves to manage our daily living. Our set of behaviors, such as our morning, evening, and self-care routines gives us a sense of control, predictability, and structure. It’s important to create routines that are proper, productive, and healthy. Here’s how:

Write Them Down

To create a framework for a routine, write down any activities you would like to include.

For example, if some quiet alone time can start you on a day with a productive attitude, write down what you need to do to achieve that. Penciling in details like waking up earlier to meditate, pray, jog, or write a few things on your gratitude journal can give more clarity to structuring your morning routine.

Keep Activities Realistic

When creating routines, see that your activities fit your lifestyle. If you’re an early bird, adding a 5 a.m. jog to your morning routine could help you feel stronger and more energized. But if you’re an owl, the daily 5 a.m. jog may just hurt you in the long run.

Be mindful of what works for YOU before deciding on your routines and your schedule.

Be Flexible

Keep in mind that routines don’t need to be rigid. Life is always throwing curveballs, large and small. So know that you can be flexible according to changes in your lifestyle.

It’s also good to change things up or deviate a little from time to time. This will add interest to what you do and keep things from getting stale and boring.

Making good routines for yourself will benefit you in many ways. They can:

·         Help you maintain healthy habits

·         Boost your productivity and creativity

·         Help you make efficient use of your time

·         Help you achieve your goals

·         Keep you physically and mentally healthy

Setting up a routine can be a challenge. But think of it this way: life is really a series of routines. Repeated sets of behavior actually help us function properly through changes and challenges. Routines bring us some much-needed structure, harmony, and well-being.
