How to Remain Balanced and Avoid a Burnout
Have you felt like you’re exhausted without even starting your day yet? You don’t want to get out of bed and just want to sleep all day? Do you often drag yourself to work and have trouble getting started? If yes, then you’ve reached the point of burnout.
When you burnout at work and life, you feel unproductive and unmotivated to accomplish your tasks. Your optimism is waning, you get headaches and you’re unable to focus.
The lack of excitement and motivation leads to a performance and productivity slump. This makes you dissatisfied, which just adds to your overall burnout. The best way out is to avoid burnout before it happens.
Make self-care a must
Evaluate what you need to be the best YOU and find ways to fit it into the day.
Set a schedule for selfcare. There are ways you can reduce stress and prevent burn out like working out and practicing good sleeping habits.
Making self-care part of your routine makes a visible long-term difference.
Plan consistent breaks from your work
Schedule regular, short breaks to recharge your batteries. Go to the beach, explore new restaurants, drive over to the next town and see the sights, or go camping nearby, the goal is to get away from your daily routine.
With social distancing, you can create a zen zone in your house, any corner you can sit and quietly have tea or coffee. Or take a long bath with aromatherapy candles giving you a soft light.
Breaks can reduce stress and boosts your productivity. So when you get back to work, you will feel more energized and ready to take on new challenges.
Don’t let work take away from your sleep
Give yourself a regular bedtime routine. At that hour, you start getting ready for bed. You need this routine so your brain can start slowing down and get you into sleep mode.
It's easy to get carried away, but sleep is vital for both physical and mental health. It restores strength, your well-being and helps protect your health.
Learn to say no and prioritize yourself
Say no when your schedule is full. Say no when something isn’t your responsibility. Say no when a deadline is unreasonable. It’s not possible to be available for everything, everytime. If you’re not sure you can take on the work, then don’t say yes or maybe. Respect your time and your energy.
Discover and do more of what you love
Learn to discover who you are and who you are not. What are the things or activities that give you inner peace and inspiration? Do that. Find relaxation techniques that work for you.
Explore your surroundings, attend yoga or meditation classes. Declutter and organize your home. Anything that gives you joy will work here.
Take your time to rest. Change up the routine. Schedule regular self-care sessions and prioritize yourself.
