5 Habits That Drain Your Energy

Having healthy habits is essential to living a healthy, balanced life. We are the product of our daily habits, so it’s important to be aware of those habits and to change any negative habits you have. If you’re looking to cut out bad habits that keep you from achieving your goals, we’ve got you covered. We’ve rounded up the top 5 habits that drain your energy to help you replace your bad habits with good ones.

1. Trying to please others

It can be incredibly draining constantly trying to please everyone around you while neglecting your own needs. When your focus is on trying to please others and make them happy, you’ll end up draining yourself and making yourself unhappy. Rather than trying to please others, work on doing things for yourself and focus on how you feel.

2. Taking things personally

If you spend your time thinking about how every interaction you have with someone has to do with you and how people feel about you, you’ll end up feeling exhausted and drained. Most of the time, it’s not about you, and how a person acts has more to do with how they feel about themselves than with how they see you. Let go of worrying about how others feel about you and remember that you can only control what you do.

3. Holding onto the past

Holding on to the past will keep you in a negative and toxic state of mind. When you’re living in the past, you’re often holding on to past resentments and grudges, keeping yourself stuck in a state of hurt and sadness. To move on, forgive yourself and others for the past, and make peace with where you are now. Focus on your future, and find the positives in your life that you’re grateful for.

4. Constantly checking social media & emails

Social media can be a great tool to connect with others, but it can also drain you if you spend too much time on it. Constantly checking your social media and emails for work will keep you from truly resting and taking a break. You’ll end up feeling tired and drained, so make sure to set aside time for checking your socials and emails to create balance.

5. Worrying and overthinking

If you struggle with worrying and overthinking, you’re more often than not worrying about the future and trying to control the outcome of things. Instead, try to let go of control and how things will unfold. Accept that worrying about things you can’t control won’t change the outcome, and save yourself the feelings of anxiety, depression, and restlessness. Overthinking will only drain you and keep you further from achieving your goals.

It’s normal to have off days where you’re not feeling your best but, if you have negative habits that drain your energy, it can be difficult to feel motivated and energetic. Find out which bad habits are present in your daily routine, and work to replace them with healthier habits to help get yourself back on track.
